OCEAN AIR & TOTAL BODY HEALTH

Every day literally millions of us metropolitan industrialized commuters are held captive for 40 to 60 hours a month in our cars.  The eco-systemic properties of a Los Angles freeway environment typically exceed our body’s maximum daily amount of toxins.  And this excess which is ingested through our pulmonary systems and skin is more than we can organically metabolize and builds up in our tissues.  As a society our minds and bodies have been programmed to live with a slight daily dosage of poisoning from our own environment which we have created.

And that’s not our only worry!  There are all kinds of other daily external environmental stresses that we are subject to; noise, traffic, the chance of catastrophic accident, the rising price of gasoline, auto breakdowns, drive byes and all for what?  To get up and do it again tomorrow! It will be the legacy of our generation; those crazy people running around with their gasoline cars.  Consume, consume, consume, like running in quick sand.  The sad part is that many of our generation have already passed away, way before their time doing just that!    And maybe it’s just because they couldn’t see life as the trees through the forest?

When my older brother passed away in his mid-fifty’s I figured my card was going to be called next, as I had a very similar family medical history to my brother.  Fortunately, I had already been exploring up and down the Americas from Alaska to Cape Cod.  I had seen a glimpse of life beyond the over passes and the concrete jungles.  I figured at my age, I had two choices; I could either work till I died, or live till I die, I chose the later.

So I chose Costa Rica partly because I had already fallen love with a beautiful little spring Tica there and partly because of the climate.  The rain forest rain feels great, it’s not cold! The ocean air feels so relaxing to breath and the warm sand massages your feet.  Ahh and the Pacific water is like a big blue bathtub, full and warm.

I headed straight for Jaco Beach because it is the closest beach to San Jose and I didn’t want to be too far out in the jungle.  I chose a hotel right on the beach, the Copacabana Desire Hotel.  What a romantic place to bring your wife or girlfriend, as I did.  When I arrived at the San Jose International Airport, my Tica girlfriend was happily waiting there to meet me.

We stayed at the Copa for over a month as our romance was regenerated and I began to feel my body shedding the toxins of San Francisco living.  Now that I’ve been staying here in Costa Rica I realize the more you stay the better you feel.  Even one week away from that crazy industrialized eco-system of the north and you start to feel your natural equilibrium returning.  It’s actually quite Zen, natural healing in the rain forests of Costa Rica.

The people there at the hotel were really sweet and we felt right at home.  There was great nightly entertainment there, so other than enjoying the beach and an occasional walk downtown Jaco, we spent most of our nights at the hotel. During the day we liked to hang out at the nude swimming pool, the clothing optional pool and the Jacuzzi.  At night they always have live bands, which is really hard to find down here in the jungle.  There’s plenty of Salsa, Meringue, and Cumbia, but if you want to hear the blues and rock & roll, the Copa is the only place I’ve found.  It’s a little like a slice of home.

This Saturday April 16, 2011 there will be an all day Blues & Bikini Festival on the beach stage at the Ocean Waves restaurant right out in front of the hotel.  The following week of Saturday April 23 through Saturday April 30 they will be celebrating “Tropical Fantasies” all week at the hotel. Come stay for the whole week and get your eighth night free while enjoying the lifestyle vacation at a great adult hotel.
